Suitable for

Project managers, project planners and team members. As a Core Course, no prior knowledge is assumed other than an understanding of the project environment.

Summary
The management of a project begins at the planning stage. An effective plan developed to an appropriate level of detail must be created to help the project manager realize the project's deliverables.

This Core Course looks at the tools and techniques used to produce project plans. Consideration is given to clear scope definition and the techniques used to produce a realistic estimate of project activities.

Following on from the definition of the project, the course looks at the methods used to develop schedules for both time and resources.

To ensure the plan produced is valid, the impact of risks must be considered. The course looks at the application of both qualitative and quantitative risk and its impact on the project.

Objectives
At the end of this course delegates will be able to:
  • Review and apply the tools used for defining project scope
  • Use estimating techniques to produce realistic durations
  • Develop a network diagram and carry out critical path analysis
  • Develop and optimize resource plans
  • Enhance the plan by applying risk management principles.
